FOUNDATION INTEGRATION SKILLS

The who, what, why and how of integration.

Foundation Integration Skills Course

The Who, What, Why and How of Integration

Successful integration requires careful coordination across multiple stakeholders, often external as well as internal.  A key skill, therefore, that integrators need, is the ability to influence others over whom they have no direct authority - this course is all about the soft skills needed to integrate well.

At a foundational level, integrators also need to build the technical knowledge of the products or services they need to integrate – this module helps them understand how to ‘walk the value chain’ from inception to end customer to acquire that knowledge.

  • Are integrators crystal clear on who their key internal and external customers are and consistently work well with them?
  • Do integrators know what they can and can’t influence?
  • Does every integrator understand their customers’ needs and motivations and therefore how to influence them?
  • Are they good at influencing?
  • Do they have the technical knowledge they need to integrate well?

If you answered ‘no’ to any of these questions this course is right for your organisation! It is suitable for people new to integration (less than 18 months experience) or for those who need to further develop the soft skills needed for good integration.

What does the Foundation Integration Skills course cover?

The course provides a framework to identify your key stakeholders and gain insight into what drives their behaviours, and how you can influence them.  The topics that we will cover are:

Understanding yourself and others.  You will learn your personal work preferences and how to recognise those of others, to help you build strong relationships.

WHO are your customers? You will create a map of high contributing customers and identify how this can be simplified to create union and deliver customer satisfaction.

WHAT can you influence?  In this module you will learn to distil complex situations to understand what you can and cannot influence, so you focus your time and effort on the right things.

WHAT to integrate? You will understand how to ‘walk the value chain’ to gain technical knowledge of all the elements you need to integrate to deliver a good service or product to your end customer.

WHY would they be interested? You will be able to understand customers’ needs and motivations to be able to influence them more effectively.

HOW to influence without authority? This module pulls together all the insight you have gathered about your customer to identify the levers you have to influence them.
